Regional Human Rights and Peace-building Fund (RHRPF)

In the Middle East region, several countries are going through major changes with popular uprising and revolutions asking for significant democratic transformation. In these times of democratic transition, states are facing challenges to advancing good governance as well as enforcing the rule of law and respect for Human Rights.

The Regional Human Rights and Peace-building Fund (RHRPF) is an initiative providing funds and direct support to selected local non-governmental, not-for-profit organizations (NGOs), international organizations with strong local partnerships, and civil society organizations (CSOs) that contribute to the RHRPF's goal: "An environment for peace, stability and respect for human rights, including the rights of women, that is rooted in the values of the Middle East and that conforms to international principles and standards." The objective of the Fund in Egypt is "to enhance the democratic participation, with a focus on marginalized groups, particularly women and youth, contributing to Egypt’s democratic transition."

Under the Active Citizenship Engagement for Good Governance (ACE) Cross-cutting Theme, and funded by RHRPF,   two projects were recently approved: "Human Rights for Political Participation (HRPP)", "My Voice will Change Egypt," and 'Manara' (Lighthosue) - Justice and Equality for Eastern Desert Bedouin Citizens Project (JEEP).
