Economic Empowerment for Youth and Children in the Garbage Collectors Community
The project rationale emphasizes the significance of local participatory mechanisms in restructuring solid-waste collection and in developing the recycling industry taking into consideration community rights and basic needs as a priority. The project outputs include training and production cycles on solid waste management techniques and recycling products. The project also attempts to create a higher value chain by training youth on marketing and sales for the recycled products. Child protection is also an essential element of the project design to be achieved through an educational component addressing health awareness and basic life skills.
