Human Rights Legal Assistance for Women in Aswan
The purpose of the Human Rights Legal Assistance (HRLAA) project is to address human rights violations in the Aswan Area. The project will focus on the violations of civil, social and political rights especially for women and other disadvantaged groups in the governorate of Aswan. In order to do so, the project will address three main objectives;
a- To raise awareness about constitutional rights
b- To build the capacity of young human rights lawyers in Aswan
c- To educate specific target groups –especially women- about their rights under the current Egyptian laws, internationally recognized standards and instruments of international humanitarian law.
Accordingly, this project includes four main components;
Component 1: Direct legal assistance in the court of law
Component 2: Issue of publications to enhance human rights awareness
Component 3: Human Rights awareness and education to public
Component 4: Training of lawyers in the field of human rights.
In terms of Results Based Management, the project will accept 50 legal cases –under component 1- during its one year duration divided as follows: 15 cases for Children and Women’s rights; 10 cases for civil and political rights; 15 cases for social and economic rights in addition to 10 other variety cases.
