Developing the Political Participation for Women in Qous District

The project aims at increasing the political awareness and participation of women in 5 villages of Quous District in Qena Governorate located in Upper Egypt.

The different project components include;

Component 1:  Issuing official documents (ID cards - Birth Certificates and Voting Cards) to over 4500 women in the 5 villages of Oliqat, Hegaza Bahary, Hegaza Kebly, Makhzan and Klasla.
Component 2:  Capacity building in political and civil rights to 25  “Political Educators” through a special designed training and networking program.
Component 3:  Communication material to increase awareness about political participation and elections on different administrative and political levels.
Component 4:  Local engagement of officials at the local administrative levels through 5 awareness sessions in the 5 villages.
Component 5:  Conduct assessment study mapping the obstacles for political participation of women in Qena Governorate.

Geographic coverage: Qous district represented in 5 villages:  Oliqat – Hegaza Bahary- Hegaza Kebly – Makhzan and Klasla.
