Political Participation of Women in Minia

The overall objective of the project is to empower and increase the political awareness and participation of rural women in the civic and political life in the Minia Governorate. The project specific objectives are; (a) Build the capacity of 10 “Political Educators” and 5 staff members in the areas of Human Rights and Democracy, (b) Raise the awareness of 200 rural women in 5 villages about their social, civil and political rights, (c) Issue official documents (Identity Cards and Voting Cards) for 767 women as a first step for their official engagement as citizens, (d) Issue Birth Certificates for 20 women who do not possess any formal documentation throughout their lives, (e) Design communication and educational material on political rights, (f) Network and exchange visits with other civil society entities active in the areas of political participation.
