Social, Economic and Political Empowerment for Rural Women in Sohag
The project's objective is to promote social, economic and political rights of rural women in Sohag to activate their participation in civic life. The project aims at increasing the awareness and participation of women in 7 villages of Sohag in Upper Egypt.
The different project components include;
Component 1: Rural Women Education/Literacy Program (225 women/15 classes);
Component 2: Capacity Building for rural women educators on techniques of adult & civic education and political awareness (15 female community educators);
Component 3: Increase Awareness on Civic Education and Political Participation, and issuing official documents (ID cards - Birth Certificates) to over 700 women in 7 villages. The implementing organization will rely primarily on the Caritas curriculum for adult education in the delivery of the literacy program. Following the completion of the 6 months educational program, the participating women will receive an official certificate.
The project addresses gender equality (G.E.), active citizenship and civic engagement as the main entry points for the project activities.
