Working with an Egyptian Partner

‘Working with an Egyptian Partner’ was originally intended as a sequel that is very much similar in structure and purpose to the previous paper, ‘Working with a Canadian Partner’: to explain the main aspects of the Egyptian culture to Canadian readers. In the process of interviewing Egyptians and Canadians working in CIDA projects and programs, this general focus shifted to center on cultural aspects that influence the workplace with emphasis on communication and relationships.

Although the study is directed to Canadian partners who are or will be engaged in CIDA projects in Egypt, it also addresses Egyptian counterparts. Therefore, as Canadians were advised of certain “do’s and don’ts”, Egyptians were also advised to partake in this process. As well, the paper includes profiles of effective Canadian advisors and effective Egyptian partners.
