Cairo Refugee Schools Summer Program 2007

Refugee Education is an important aspect of life for asylum seekers and for the refugee communities in Cairo. This activity targets primary children from 11 refugee schools in Cairo and their surrounding communities during one month of the closed summer period. Specific Objectives (purpose) of the 2007 Refugee Summer Program have been to Provide a recreational and educational program for approximately 1,207 refugee children, to Provide a balanced program of sports, drama, music, English language booster classes, competitions and parent/career performances, and to Provide a nutritional meal for each child and member of staff on each day of the program. Indirectly this program also benefited the children’s parents who often face many pressure sue to their legal and socio-economic status in Egypt.
