Environmental Sustainability and Clean Bio-gas Energy in Minya Villages

The project aims at promoting of sustainable development in Minya villages and rural areas through clean bio-energy practices and environmental education. The project idea is built on the role of women in rural areas, especially as it relates to the reuse of animal waste, agricultural waste and the household organic waste. Project implementation will address two main areas; use of modern biogas technology and the delivery of a comprehensive environmental education program targeting women, children in schools and the community at large.  The project specific objectives are: to promote women’s participation in community based environmental management, to promote the basic concepts of environmental education amongst school students, to construct 10 pilot Bio-gas units in 5 villages as alternative energy sources and as a means to produce organic fertilizers from animal and agricultural waste, to conduct clean ups at the village levels and finally to conduct competitions amongst youth in 5 villages to plant trees.
