Rural Women Forum
The “Rural Women Forum” project addresses women’s public participation in rural communities. The project activities target primarily rural women, a category that is often marginalized in their communities and lacks general awareness about their basic rights, notably the legal, social, and economic ones. Specifically, the project objectives are to establish dialogue in order for rural women to access basic public services provided by the local government entities at their village level. The project will also facilitate the access of rural women to legal services through the legal units of the Egyptian Association for Comprehensive development. Accordingly, EACD will serve as an umbrella organization for 7 CDAs located in 7 different villages to ensure outreach for different marginalized communities. Project implementation will take place through four major components;
Component 1: Establish a network and build the capacity of 7 community development associations (CDAs) to ensure project outreach;
Component 2: Awareness Sessions for 300 women on their economic, social and civic rights;
Component 3: Through the rural forum/parliament, the organization will prepare a service guide with a listing of all government services provided in the target governorate;
Component 4: Establish legal and reference units to ensure the sustainability of the provided services to rural women and to ensure an ongoing dialogue between beneficiaries and government agencies providing public services.
