Together for the Empowerment of Quarry Children

The project provides an opportunity to increase children's awareness about their rights, provide them with life skills as well as increase their benefit from new and alternative job opportunities in other sectors different than quarries, hence removing them from the category of worst forms of child labor. In that respect, the implementing organization will establish a revolving fund as a way to provide alternative income generation opportunities for children and their families through training in more safe sectors and different crafts thus supporting their start-up and management of micro-enterprises.

Removing children from the worst forms of child labor and providing alternative job and life opportunities, will consequently contribute positively to child rights by allowing them to have more time to exercise all their rights such as play, education, self expression and protection from economic exploitation resulting from their work in the quarries. Other benefits for the children include health awareness and protection from workplace hazards and potential exposure to accidents and death.
